The Jewish Museum of Greece, continuing its action for the dissemination and transmission of the teaching of Jewish history, the fight against anti-Semitism, and the promotion of Jewish life, co-organized with the General Secretariat for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs & Sports a two-day seminar for teachers on the subject “The Twentieth Century through the Narratives of Jewish Women”. The two-day seminar was organized in the framework of the HerStories project, which is coordinated by Centropa (Germany), in cooperation with the Jewish Museum of Greece, Mozaika (Spain), Centropa (Hungary), the Jewish Museum of Galicia (Poland) and co-funded by the European Commission through the CERV programme.
The aim of the seminar was to increase the quality of education about 20th century Jewish history and the Holocaust in Greece, while the programme provided a rich opportunity for reflection on gender perspectives and microhistory based on the stories of Jewish women on which the seminar focused.
The seminar took place on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 November 2023 in Athens and was addressed to educators of primary and secondary education. More than 25 teachers from all over Greece attended the rich programme that included lectures by specialised JMG researchers, presentation of teaching tools and group workshops between the educators, which were also based on new tools and teaching material exclusively designed in the framework of HerStories.
