Educator
Anna Wencel graduated from the Jewish Studies Programme at Jagiellonian University in Kraków in 2008. Educator at Galicia Jewish Museum since 2008, she has worked as museum guide, researcher, lecturer, and coordinator of educational projects, including the flagship project “Teaching the Holocaust in Context” – seminars for teachers on Jewish history, antisemitism and the Holocaust. At the Galicia Jewish Museum, Anna’s work has included: Curator and co-curator of Galicia Jewish Museum’s exhibitions "Houses of Eternity. Jewish Cemeteries in Former Galicia", "Hungarian Lions of Judah in Galicia", "All the Roads. Stories of Holocaust Survivors", and "The Girl in the Diary. Searching for Rywka from the Łódź Ghetto". Author and co-author of Galicia Jewish Museum’s publications: "Drejdl i hamantasze – przewodnik po kulturze żydowskiej dla najmłodszych", "Na kartkach kalendarza. Judaizm i tradycja żydowska", "Witnesses of Polish-Jewish History", and "Dziennik Janki Goldstein". Translator of books and exhibition catalogues, e.g. "Traces of Memory", "SWEET HOME SWEET". Her research interests include Jewish history in the 19th and 20th century, Jewish cemeteries, Holocaust remembrance, innovative and participatory teaching methods, traditional Jewish art of papercutting.
